## How to Log In or Link a Device

  1. **On your phone:** Download the Signal app, open it, and enter your phone number to receive an SMS verification code.
  2. **On your computer:** Download Signal Desktop. Open the app on your phone, go to Settings > Linked Devices, and scan the QR code displayed on your computer screen.
  3. You never "log in" with a username and password. Signal relies strictly on device linking and your phone number.

## Troubleshooting & Support

### Not Receiving the SMS Code?

Ensure you have cellular service and no SMS blockers active. If it fails, wait for the timer to expire and select "Call Me" to receive the code via an automated phone call.

### Forgot Your PIN?

If you enabled Registration Lock and forgot your PIN, you will need to wait 7 days for the lock to expire before you can register your number again.

### Security Tips

  * ✓Only download Signal from `signal.org` — never from third-party sites
  * ✓Signal has no browser-based web login — any site claiming otherwise is a phishing attempt
  * ✓Enable Registration Lock \(PIN\) to prevent someone from re-registering your number
  * ✓Use Note to Self as a private bookmark — it's end-to-end encrypted too
  * ✓Never share your Signal verification code — Signal will never ask for it
